Sometimes a TV show should not continue beyond it’s first season. For indisputable proof, look no further than 13 Reasons Why, a drama about a teen, Hannah Baker, who died by suicide, that should have ended immediately after completing her story in season one.

The first season’s success led to a second and, as of last Friday, a third that devotes its 13 episodes to resolving a mystery only tangentially related to the show’s initial concern: why Hannah Baker killed herself. The question that dominates season three is: Who is responsible for the death of a character absolutely no one felt compassion for?

In season three, Bryce Walker is dead. Bryce Walker: the serial rapist who raped Hannah and never faced serious consequences for the crimes he committed. Bryce Walker: Perhaps the least liked character on 13 Reasons Why. Bryce Walker: a classic rich, white, male villain who, in the first two seasons, seemed like every other teen-show baddie, except worse.

In a lot of ways, 13 Reasons Why season three is a redemption tour for Bryce, played by Justin Prentice, whom we learn via flashbacks was trying, prior to his death, to learn from his bad behavior and become a better person, albeit with mixed results. but some characters are beyond salvation in the eyes of the audience, and ultimately the season was all the more unsatisfying for it.

It was 15 years ago when Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban hit movie theaters. it remians among fans one of the most beloved movies in the massive franchise, thanks in no small part to the special effects that made the magical world possible.

While there were plenty of impressive elements to this movie – like the haunting deathly dementors or the high soaring noble hippogriff – the hardest magical moment to pull off, according to effects supervisor Roger Guyett, was Hermoine’s Time-Turner, the pendant she wore to travel back in time.

“[Director Alfonso Cuaron] really wanted to capture the spirit of seeing time reversing itself, circling around you, “Guyett explained. |The shot, designed in part by our cinematographer Michal Seresin, required a tremendous amount of planning, because the sun was moving at a different rate in the foreground and the background.”

In order to make it appear as if Harry and Hermoine are staying still as time moves backwards around them, the shoot required multiple cameras. “We had the original camera moving with the main characters, and to get everyone speeding up in the background, we had to shoot multiple [asses with a motion-control rig.” Guyett said.

“In all the activity happening behind [ Harry and Hermoine], we can get everything moving as fast as we like, even though both sets of actors are moving in normal time.” Guyett continued. “It sounds relatively trivial until you actually figure out how to do it. So we ended up using plenty of miniatures – miniature clock tower, miniature grounds – really relying on graphics and planning.”

Love it, or hate it, 13 Reasons Why had some things to say in its first season about some real issues. But since then the Netflix series has become over-the-top with its drama and controversial subject matters. Its third season is a mess, and here are the reasons why.

Ani’s instant friendships with literally everyone. Ani (Grace Saif) is brand-new to the show in season 3. She starts attending Liberty High School in the months leading up to Bryce’s death. Despite this, she seems to instantly know every teenager within a 30-mile radius. Clearly she’s been added to take over for Hannah Baker: the narrator who knows everybody. But her instant infiltration into everyone’s lives is weird.

Clay generally being an egotistical. Clay Jensen has always been nosy. He’s always been obsessive to an unhealthy degree. But in season 3, it gets harder and harder to empathize within him. When he finds out that Tony hasn’t told him about he’s doing. His immediate response is to be pissed that Tony didn’t tell him sooner!

All the emphasis on secrets. In conversions between characters and in Ani’s voice-over, this show mentions that everyone has secrets constantly. It happens so often that it seems American television as a whole has completely exceeded it quota on the use of the word secret. Like Popeyes did with its chicken sandwich, TV has completely run out of that word.

Mrs. Baker’s Voicemail. At one point, a voice mail left for Clay by Hannah’s mom, Olivia Baker (Kate Walsh), becomes a potentially important piece of evidence. It turns out the voicemail, in which Olivia says she’d like to kill Bryce, was recorded when she was drunk. It’s understandable that Olivia would be upset and crying. But why reach out to the boy who had unrequited crush on your daughter?
